ASICS America

Challenges:
Efficient data management and delivery:

ASICS America of Irvine, CA (formerly ASICS Tiger) is the North American arm of ASICS, a leading, global manufacturer of cutting-edge footwear, active apparel and sports accessories.

Like many organizations its size, ASICS lacked a central data repository. Sales, inventory, forecast and financial data were distributed across numerous legacy systems, making it difficult and time-consuming for technical staff to respond to management’s information requests. To prevent such delays from impacting the decision-making process, ASICS enlisted ITresources to assess and streamline the existing configuration.

“Our executives are very impressed by the power and efficiency of ITresources’ Sales data mart. Faster, easier access has accelerated and improved the entire decision making process.”
- Masuki Count, Asics’ Vice President, Information Systems Division

Our Solution:
Utilizing CMM-certified methodology and data management expertise, ITresources implemented a Data Warehouse, composed of individual data marts for Sales, Orders and Inventory. Data is now extracted and loaded daily into star-schema data marts in a SQL Server database. This gives executives easy access through standard query tools, such as MS Excel and MS Access. They can also retrieve and navigate through the data using SQL Server Analysis Services and Pivot Table Services.

Results:
Faster, easier access to vital information within days of implementation, the Data Warehouse improved access and response times and enabled managers to quickly retrieve critical data. Since information is now centralized and normalized, the IT department can generate ad hoc reports in one or two hours instead days or weeks. The Data Warehouse solution is also providing users with easy, interactive access to other critical information.
